It has only been a few days since our return from China. It was a wonderful trip to see Nate and Leah and the "half baked" new granddaughter! She's still in her mommy's tummy, so a little imagination is needed to see her. I'll post info and pictures soon.
Unfortunately, we lost our Sprite after 14 years while we were away. It was a serious blow. Since Jeni is not teaching for a few more weeks, we decided we either get a new dog immediately, or we wait for an unknown time to get a new one. As you can see, we brought one home today. It is an apricot colored male we've named Biscuit. He has about the same color as a KFC buttermilk biscuit. He is supposed to be almost 10 weeks old, but he seems younger. He is also supposed to get to be 20 lbs, but that may be optimistic. We're hoping for at least a 15 pounder. He does whine and bark for attention, so we'll have to break that habit. Adventures in family living...

Divya and Daddy got Mom a new digital camera for Mom's Day. It is in preparation for the big trip to China. The older one had a very annoying shutter lag. This one has a high speed memor card and has a higher light sensitivity. It really does shoot much faster. It is a Sony Cyber-shot W90. If you're looking for very nice pocket sized digital, this is a good one and it won't break the bank.

One more post for today. A couple pics of Divya's recital and a couple of her gymnastics.

Getting near the end of the Florida pictures. I highly recommend beach time. The water was a chilly 72, but all else was perfect.

I know there is a smarter way to post pictures, but I'm not smart enough and my two daughters in law (who are smart enough) are half way around the planet! Florida pics continue...

More pics of the beach.

It takes a couple posts to get the full 360 view!

It takes a while to find the minutes needed to make a new post. The biggest event since last post was a wonderful but short trip to Casey Key on Florida's Gulf Coast. The pics speak for themselves.

Here are a few more pictures of the week with granddaughter Emma. We're still wrestling with just the right grandparent names. In Korean, Umma and Uppa are the names for grandparents. So far, Jeni is Umma Jeni. I'm still trying on names.

What a great week we had! Our lovely daughter-in-law, Joy, and her beautiful daughter, Emma, came to visit us last week from South Korea. Unfortunately, our son and Emma's Daddy, Matt, had to stay in So. Korea to work. Our Kentucky family, Danny, Cara, Alison, Josiah, and Poppa Dee also came. Every wonderful thing I've ever heard about grand parenting is true. Here are a few pics of the great days.

It's the end of January. The Chicago area is quite cold. Zero at night and barely into single digits during the day. It's supposed to get colder this weekend. So, we decided to celebrate Divya's birthday (Jan. 3rd is the official day, though we celebrated later) with a hot dog luau. 14 girls, hot dogs, crafts, cake, ice cream, and Elvis Hawaii songs all converged to form the virtual Hawaiian getaway from Chicago winter. The proof is in the pictures!

It's popcorn ball season, too. Here are a few shots of production. One is a bowl full of melted marshmallows. Step 2 is pouring the melted marshmallows into popped corn. Step three is letting Sprite each popcorn that fell off the counter and stuck to Divya's toe! Step four is my women making the sticky, gooey, yummy concoction into popcorn balls. Fun!
